Colombia Stuns Uruguay, Reaches Quarterfinals of FIFA World Cup

James Rodriguez Scores Twice to Lead Los Cafeteros to Victory

Colombia will face Brazil in the quarterfinals after a 2-0 victory over Uruguay on Saturday. James Rodriguez scored both goals for Los Cafeteros, including a stunning free kick that was named the Goal of the Tournament at the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil.

Colombia started the match brightly and created several chances in the early stages. Rodriguez opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a superb free kick that curled into the top corner of the net. Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera had no chance of saving the shot.

Colombia doubled their lead in the 50th minute after Rodriguez pounced on a loose ball in the Uruguay penalty area. The Real Madrid star took a touch to control the ball before firing a low shot past Muslera. It was his fourth goal of the tournament.

Uruguay pushed for a goal in the second half, but Colombia's defense held firm. Los Cafeteros will now face Brazil in the quarterfinals on Friday. It will be the first time that the two South American rivals have met in the knockout stages of a World Cup.
