IPCC to Participate in 60th Session at 2024 Bonn Climate Conference
Geneva, June 1
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will participate in the upcoming 60th session of the Subsidiary Bodies (SB60) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), scheduled to take place in Bonn, Germany, from May 8 to 17, 2024.
The IPCC's participation in SB60 will involve providing technical inputs and scientific assessments to inform deliberations on various climate change-related topics, including mitigation, adaptation, and finance. The IPCC will also engage with policy-makers, experts, and stakeholders to share its latest findings and insights on climate science.
The SB60 session is expected to focus on key climate change issues, including the preparation of the next round of national climate action plans (Nationally Determined Contributions, or NDCs) under the Paris Agreement, the implementation of the Glasgow Climate Pact, and the mobilization of finance for climate action.
The IPCC's participation in SB60 underscores its commitment to providing the global community with authoritative and up-to-date scientific information on climate change to inform decision-making and action. The scientific assessments and technical inputs provided by the IPCC are essential for countries and stakeholders to effectively address the challenges of climate change.
